Dal Tadka Soup

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup yellow lentils (toor dal)

  • 1/2 onion, chopped

  • 1 tomato, chopped

  • 2 cups vegetable broth (low-sodium)

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)

  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder (dhania)

  • 1/4 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tsp ghee

  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Directions:

  1. Rinse the lentils and cook them with vegetable broth in a pressure cooker or a pot until soft.

  2. In a pan, heat ghee and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, sauté onions and tomatoes until soft.

  3. Add turmeric, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.

  4. Add the cooked lentils to the pan and simmer for 5-7 minutes.

  5. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
